A few months ago our sweet Macie was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was a very special day for her and our entire family. I thought it would be fun to share some LDS baptism ideas for anyone with a soon-to-be eight-year old!
When I was baptized, ‘Baptism Photo Shoots’ were unheard of, but it’s always fun to take a few pics of your kiddo before their special day. You can use them for invites, frame and display on the big day itself, or of course, your for own personal documentation.
Yes a phone call (or a text!) would do the job, but invites are a fun way to announce your child’s special day to friends and family. I ordered invites for my boys, but this time around I decided to make my own. After a lot (and I mean A LOT) of typos and silly mistakes, I love how they turned out…
I used Adobe Photo shop to design these and printed them as a 5 x 7 lustre photo at Costco. You can design your own, or download a custom print from my Etsy store (there’s a boy version as well). There are tons of adorable baptism invites from a variety of other Etsy Sellers too.
I honestly never decor much for my kids baptisms, though I did have big plans to make a white balloon garland, it just didn’t happen. However, one thing I did for all 3 kiddos that I LOVED is a commemorative name/date print.
We usually try to keep things pretty simple and go with a picnic or bbq after the main event. However, I always like to make my kiddos cupcakes with fun little personalized toppers.
Speaking of written testimony’s, my sister-in-law gave me a GREAT idea for Macie’s baptism that I wished I would have done with my boys. While Macie was changing out of her wet clothes, she passed out cards for each of our guests to write a brief note/testimony to our special girl. She now has a nice little photo album she flips through regularly (because somehow she is even more of a sentimental sap than me!) containing all the sweet words shared with her.
I hope you’ll use some of these ideas if you’re into crafting and creating, and if not, that’s perfectly okay too! Special days are made most special by sharing them with those we love…
